In 2008, there were 14,403 substantiated cases of child abuse in Alberta.*


36% of adults in Alberta have experienced some form of abuse in their youth.*


90% of children and youth supported by the Zebra Centre know their offenders.


Police receive 5 times more reports of sexual violence to children than adults.**

2,098 kids supported in 2018, an average of 175 per month.


Zebra Centre made 20,909 Support Contacts in 2018.

Education & Prevention

Simply put, child abuse is anything that intentionally endangers the development or security of a child. Abuse includes emotional abuse, neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse and online exploitation. Reports can be made anonymously to police or child and family services.
