Join us in Celebrating 20 Years of the zebra centre

It’s not too late to make a Birthday gift to the Zebra Centre to celebrate 20 years of making an impact!

Thank you!

We had the best time throughout October celebrating 20 years of the Zebra Centre. We wanted to extend a special thank you to all who supported our celebrations and joined us to make so many wonderful, long lasting memories. It is with your support that we were able to raise an incredible $150,000 (and counting) for our Centre.

We would also love to extend our gratitude to numerous organizations in our community who helped make our celebrations extra special. Thank you to our amazing Herd Heroes who supported and sponsored our events!

In 2002, the Zebra Centre became our community’s response to child abuse and since then, we have helped thousands of children and youth as well as their families. We are excited to celebrate the impact of the Zebra Centre over the past twenty years with two special events this October.

Show Your Stripes Soiree - Thursday, October 20, 2022

6:30PM - 10:00PM

Location: Central Social Hall - 10909 Jasper Avenue

Join us for our ticketed celebration party where guests will have some fun while doing good. We can't wait to see you on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Central Social Hall for our Show Your Stripes Soiree!

Our signature cocktail event is a celebration of the impactful work that the Zebra Centre has done for the past 20 years with our volunteers, staff and partners. Help us celebrate at Central Social Hall with entertainment, silent auction, great food and great company!

Zebra Herd Homecoming - Sunday October, 2, 2022

10:00AM - 2:00PM

Location: Zebra Centre - 10909 Jasper Avenue, 7th Floor

Join us as we open our doors and welcome our community to explore our child-friendly space and feel the safe and welcoming atmosphere that our staff, partners and volunteers create everyday. Past and current staff, volunteers, donors, partners and friends are invited to explore our Centre to learn about our supports and services, meet our staff, volunteers, partners and Accredited Facility Dogs.

Due to limited space within our Centre we are doing timed entries to allow enough space for everyone. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required!

While there was no cost to attend the Zebra Herd Homecoming, we invited all of our guests and friends in the community to consider making a “birthday gift” to the Zebra Centre with a charitable donation. All donations made in honour of our birthday were matched by the EPCOR Heart & Soul Fund by $20,000! The impact of these donations were doubled as our herd joined us in celebrating 20 years of the Zebra Centre!

Birthday Gifts

All donations made in honour of our birthday will be matched by the EPCOR Heart & Soul Fund up to $20,000!  Double your impact as you join us in celebrating 20 years of the Zebra Centre!

We welcome you to share a special message with us for our 20th Anniversary!

Before the Zebra Centre opened in 2002, a child or youth who had experienced abuse would be sitting outside an interview room at police headquarters. There were strange people, dressed in uniform, walking through the hallways past them. Concrete walls surrounded the child and fluorescent lights buzzed overhead.

Each time, telling their story becomes more and more difficult. That was 20 years ago, and now today, when a child or youth experiences abuse, they arrive at our Centre.

The Zebra Child & Youth Advocacy Centre is our community’s response to child abuse. The Zebra Centre is a place that welcomes them from the moment they step off the elevator with Child Advocates with them every step of the way.

Our multi-disciplinary team of partners is truly a herd that provides services and support throughout the entire journey. The Zebra Centre is a place where children’s resiliency is seen and heard every day, as laughter echoes down the halls. It’s a place where every child is believed, and bravery is celebrated.

“Thanks to Zebra, I can turn the page on what happened to me and move on with my life. I am so happy to say that.”
