Mary has been involved with the Zebra Child Protection since its inception in 2002. As an active board member for the past 14 years, she is proud of work that has been accomplished to support our most vulnerable children in Edmonton and surrounding areas. In her professional role, Mary has been in the education field for over 30 years. She has served as a teacher, private consultant, education manager with the Ministry of Education, Assistant Superintendent, school administrator and is presently the proud Principal of Michael Strembitsky School. Prior to the Zebra Centre’s opening in 2002, it became abundantly clear to Mary that the process of supporting children who experienced abuse and neglect needed to become more streamlined and collaborative. As a founding and present board member, Mary brings the voice of children to the table, ensuring there would be a better way to investigate and coordinate supports for children who experienced abuse.
