As a founding board member, Mary is honored to have been involved with the Zebra Child Protection since its inception in 2002.

She is proud of work that has been accomplished to date in supporting our most vulnerable children in Edmonton and surrounding areas. In her professional role, Mary has been involved in the education field for over 36 years. She served as a teacher, principal, consultant, assistant superintendent and education manager with the Ministry of Education. In 2017, Mary retired from education and redirected her career by opening up a consulting company, Maria M Consulting, which focuses on Leadership Development.

Prior to the Zebra Centre’s opening in 2002, it became abundantly clear to Mary that the processes of supporting children who experienced abuse and neglect needed to become more streamlined and collaborative. As a founding and present board member, Mary brings the voice of children to the table, ensuring there is a better way to investigate and coordinate support for children who experience abuse.
