Ways to Give

There are many ways you can make a difference for the Zebra Centre. Explore the donation options below!

Make a one time donation

No matter the amount, every gift given to the Zebra Centre has the power to change lives.

Your donation will go towards our support programs that help children and youth who have experienced abuse.

Become a monthly donor

When you become a monthly donor, you join our “Striped Society.”

Your consistent and generous monthly donations enable our sustainability and growth to continue to support the brave children and youth we support.

Did you know that monthly giving is one of the easiest and best ways to support the priority needs of the Zebra Centre?

    • Sign up online or call 780-391-4426 to start your monthly contributions today.

    • You can choose to give a cash gift from your credit card (we accept VISA, MasterCard, or AMEX cards) and each month, your gift will automatically be deducted on the same date.

    • You’ll receive a welcome package with information about the program and a special merchandise item.

    • Once a year, we’ll send you the latest news and updates about how your support has helped the Zebra Centre.

    • At the end of the calendar year, you will receive a tax receipt for the total of your annual donations for tax return purposes.

    • You can cancel or change your monthly gift details at any time.

Memoriam gifts

Cherish the memory of a lost loved one, relative, friend, or colleague by making a donation in their honour. A memorial gift commemorates one’s life while working to support the Zebra Centre.

When we receive your gift, we will send a letter to the honouree’s next of kin in acknowledgment of your thoughtful gift (the amount of your gift will not be included). You will also receive a letter, along with your official tax receipt, confirming the details of your donation.

Show Your Stripes Soiree (2022)

Event Sponsorship

Sponsor a Zebra Centre signature event, campaign, or initiative to show your stripes for the Zebra Centre!

Corporate sponsorship is a powerful way to spend your marketing dollars. It’s also an effective way to get in front of a diverse audience of Zebra Centre staff, volunteers, partner agencies, families and caregivers, and supports of the Zebra Centre.

Legacy Giving

Your legacy is one of the most impactful decisions in your lifetime — a chance to ensure your values are carried into the future. Planned giving is the commitment to leaving a gift to a charity of your choice. Regardless of the amount of your income or assets, you can plan a legacy gift that will support the Zebra Centre.

No planned gift is too small. Your planned gift the Zebra Centre would represent a significant contribution to our mission while providing you and your loved ones with tax and estate planning benefits.

Gifts of Securities

Donating your publicly traded securities (stocks) is a simple and effective way to make a meaningful and lasting impact for the Zebra Centre.

When donating your stocks directly to the Zebra Centre, you are able to donate the full amount and will not be taxed on any capital gains. The stock will be sold immediately upon receipt by the Zebra Centre and you will receive a tax receipt for the stock’s full value.

Tribute Giving

Tax Receipts

The Zebra Centre issues tax receipts for all donations over $20.00 CAD.

Receipts that meet the following conditions are issued for the calendar tax year:

  • Donations must be received by, or postmarked on or before, December 31

  • The tax receipt will be issued in the name of the payor of the donation; for example, if the name on the cheque or credit card is Dale Smith, the receipt will be made out to Dale Smith. The exception to this is if the cheque issuer acts as an agent for collecting and remitting donations from various persons/parties (i.e., an employer of an employee fundraising initiative). Donation receipts can be issued to the persons/parties provided that the nature of the monies can be receipted and a complete and legible list of donor information (donor name, address and postal code) is provided to the Foundation.

  • We must receive the full name and mailing address of the donor.

While we can’t provide tax receipts for gifts of service, the CRA has deemed it acceptable for you to invoice us and then donate the same amount back to us after we make payment (learn more here). Neither sponsorship nor event registration fees are eligible for tax receipts as there is a transactional component to payment. However, sometimes we can provide partial receipting if we deem that the value received by the supporter is less than the price paid. Learn more here.

Third party fundraiser organizers are responsible for providing a complete list of donors inclusive of full names, addresses, date of donation, and amount for us to issue tax receipts. This must be provided at the time the donation is received and must balance to the total donation amount.
