6 Main Ways to be Involved as a Volunteer
Child Advocate Volunteers
Child advocates provide individualized support to children and families affected by child abuse. This includes informational, investigative and criminal justice process updates, community and counselling referrals, and court support. Above all, the child advocate ensures the needs of the child remain priority.
Court Accompaniment Volunteers
Are you interested in the justice system? Child advocates involved in court accompaniment offer support when a child is required to testify in court. They stay with the child during his or her testimony, explain the court process to the child and the family, and act as a liaison with the crown prosecutor.
Administration Volunteers
Administration Volunteers play an important role in maintaining the organization’s day to day operations. This is a great opportunity to apply your professional skills in human resources, accounting, fund development, communications and more.
Special Events Volunteers
Do you like to organize events or special projects? Volunteers for special events help plan, organize and assist special projects and activities, like children’s holiday parties, volunteer appreciation events, and training and public awareness events.
Fundraising Volunteers
Are you looking to volunteer at Zebra but have limited availability? Volunteers can balance their desire to give back to our community with their hectic schedules. Fundraising includes casino nights, golf tournaments, 50/50 and other events.
Board of Directors Members and Committee Volunteers
Board of Directors Members lend their wisdom to governing the Zebra Centre with advice and contributions to strategy development.
Committee Volunteers apply their expertise to special areas of development for the Zebra Centre across a variety of committees, including fundraising and communications.
See the volunteer brochure for more information about the available volunteer roles and how to start the 7-step screening process.
Volunteer Brochure
“The Child Advocacy Program makes a difference in children’s lives because they know that their voices are heard and that their hands are held during the entire process.”
