Opportunities to Give

The Zebra Child Protection Centre – the first integrated, child-centred service of its kind in Canada—gives all of us an opportunity to lend strength to abused children and create an exemplary model for compassion and justice in contending with child abuse in our community. We invite you to take a few moments to explore the following ways of giving to see what works best for you in expressing your compassion and care.

The Zebra Centre is founded on the principle that we need to work as a community, drawing upon the expertise and resources of us all to help in the recovery of abused children. So, please be assured that your kindness will make a difference – whether it is a cash donation for the development of the Centre or a gift of clothing or linens to help a child move forward with security and support. Your tax-deductible donations make our work possible in all of its many facets.

For more information on how you can help, visit the links below. If you have any questions, please email Barbara Spencer or call our CEO at (780) 421–2016.

Gifts in Kind

It may be more practical for you to contribute gifts of equipment, products, and materials. The operation and development of the Zebra Centre relies on many materials, so these gifts are well utilized and appreciated. They also help to reduce costs of providing our in-house programs. To enable us to properly acknowledge and evaluate your contribution, please include a sales receipt, appraisal form or other third-party evaluation with your gift. Please click here for a list of items needed to support the Centre’s programs.

Planned Giving

Your gifts pledged today will help the Zebra Centre continue in the future to serve the children in our community. We recommend donors seek independent legal, financial and tax counsel when considering major planned giving to the Zebra Centre.

Matching Gift Program

Please take the time to find out if your employer has a Matching Gift Program. Such a program can enable you to double or even triple the value of your support to the Centre. Take advantage of your company’s matching gift program and increase the value of your gift to the Zebra Centre.

Just ask your company’s matching gift officer (usually in the human resources or community relations department) for a matching gift form.

Many corporations and public sector employers in the province have organized workplace campaigns. Please designate the Zebra Centre in your workplace campaign.

Corporate Gifts

Child abuse is everyone’s business. The Zebra Centre can help your company to realize its corporate and charitable-giving objectives. We have developed rewarding partnerships with many companies in Edmonton and throughout Alberta. Together, we can lend our strength to protect those most innocent our community: our children.

Please contact the Zebra Centre at (780) 421–2016 or Barbara Spencer to discuss your charitable giving objectives.

Special Event Fundraising

Special Event Fundraising offers you the opportunity to add community value to an event you have already planned and it can also be a good reason to generate a new event that brings the people in your circle or organization together.

Volunteers feel a sense of belonging and satisfaction in contributing to the important work at Zebra. We also appreciate the open communication and encouragement to pursue areas of interest in a variety of tasks, projects and training opportunities. It is obvious that Zebra places the needs of children at the top of the list in terms of its purpose, strategies and daily activities. How comforting for volunteers to work in an environment where decisions and actions are based primarily on the needs of children!
